Ali ChararaDirector of the Institute for Information Sciences

Ali Charara is Professor de classe exceptionnelle (of Exceptional Class) at the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC) and specializes in automation and robotics and more specifically the observation and control of intelligent/autonomous vehicles. He was a project leader (chargé de mission) and then deputy scientific director at the CNRS from 2003 to 2006, deputy scientific director of the i-Trans competitiveness cluster from 2005 to 2009, then member of its board of directors from 2013 to 2017. As Director of the Heuristics and Diagnostics For Complex Systems Laboratory (Heudiasyc, CNRS/UTC) from 2008 to 2017, he contributed to the creation of the interdisciplinary Heterogeneous Systems in Interaction Research Federation (CNRS/UTC) in 2009 which he directed until 2018. He also contributed to the creation of the Laboratory of Excellence for the Control of Systems of Technology-Intensive Systems (Labex MS2T) in 2011 which he also directed until 2018 and in 2017 to setting up the Sivalab Joint Laboratory (Renault/CNRS/UTC). Ali Charara was a member of the National Committee for Scientific Research (2000-2003 and 2008-2012). He was head of the Institute for Information Sciences (INS2I) of CNRS from January 2019 to January 2023.
